APPENDAGE #8: My Secret Public Journal, Entry #041: House Of Wolves

"House Of Wolves" by My Chemical Romance

"Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own...Jealousy is a disease, love is a healthy condition. The immature mind often mistakes one for the other, or assumes that the greater the love, the greater the jealousy."

Now I know I've made quite a few mistakes in my day,
but at least I can admit to them...

Well, I know a thing about contrition,
Because I got enough to spare.
And I'll be granting your permission,
'Cause you haven't got a prayer.

I know that what you've done is quite horrible, but I haven't been a saint myself. Now, I'm not justifying what you did, nor am I down playing it, but maybe not all of the blame should be put on you, in some sort of sick twisted fucked up thinking...

Well, I think I'm gonna burn in hell,
Everybody burn the house right down.
And say, ha
What I wanna say
Tell me I'm an angel,
Take this to my grave.
Tell me I'm a bad man,
Kick me like a stray.
Tell me I'm an angel,
Take this to my grave.

S-I-N, I S-I-N
S-I-N, I S-I-N
S-I-N, I S-I-N
S-I-N, I S-I-N

You play ring around the ambulance,
You see, maybe I have been playing the victim,
for far too long.
Well like you never gave a care.
Isn't that what drove me crazy about you?
So get the choir boys around you,
How you could have done what you did,
and still feel sorry for yourself?
It's a compliment, I swear.
How fucking dare you...
And I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down,
but wait, what was I doing?
I wanna hear you sing the praise,
I've done things you should have never known,
I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down,
yet I still cried over you...
We got innocence for days!

Well, I think I'm gonna burn in hell,
Everybody burn the house right down.
And say, ha
What I wanna say
Tell me I'm an angel,
Take this to my grave.
Tell me I'm a bad man,
Kick me like a stray.
Tell me I'm an angel,
Take this to my grave.

You better run like the devil,
'Cause they're never gonna leave you alone!
You better hide up in the alley,
'Cause they're never gonna find you a home!
And as the blood runs down the walls,
You see me creepin' up these halls.
I've been a bad motherfucker
Tell your sister I'm another
Go! Go! Go!
And I said, say,
What I wanna sayTell me I'm an angel,
Take this to my grave.

Maybe in many ways I'm as horrible a person as you are. Love is a two-way street, and while I may have tried the last time around, what led me to realize that I actually wanted to give it my all this time around was a blessing made out of a curse. I should have never strayed, but I did, so how does that not make me a sinner? Sure, a technicality keeps us from the same label, but my heart was still with you, but my "body" was with her. If it makes you feel better you can put the blame on me, and...

Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man.
Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man.
Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man.
Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man.

Deliver me from writers who say the way they live doesn't matter.
I'm not sure a bad person can write a good book.
If art doesn't make us better, then what on earth is it for?

So get up!
So get out!
S-I-N, I S-I-N!

  1. I honestly didn't see this one coming either. Were you hiding some of these songs up your sleeve? I thought you had talked to me about what the entire series was going to entail, but damn, curve balls like crazy. First you throw Mama at us, then The Jetset Life, and now House Of Wolves. This one was a little intense. I think we've been desensitized to what "intense" is now, especially after posts like "DESTROYA", "Party Poison", and especially "Dear Mama".

It's nice that you are being honest and admitting to your faults, even if it is kind of backhanded. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Maybe this will lead into a follow-up? I can't wait for this to be over, and I mean that in a good way! I just want to be able to take all of this story in.

  2. ps: Are the wolves a metaphor for your demons, or for your guilt or something?
